New Deus Ex: Mankind Divided trailer shows off a cyberpunk future
A new trailer for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has dropped, showing off a technologically advanced but deeply troubled cyberpunk future.
Mankind Divided is the highly anticipated sequel to 2011's critically acclaimed Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Developed by Eidos Montreal, the same studio that was responsible for Human Revolution: Mankind Divided launches on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on August 23rd.
The trailer, which you can view below, is narrated by the game's protagonist Adam Jensen and depicts a dystopian future where augmented individuals like Jenson himself have become feared by the general population and are considered dangers to society.
Also shown off are some of the new gameplay elements and features that you'll find in Mankind Divided. As is typically the case in a Deus Ex game players have a choice of whether to approach each situation stealthily and take out enemies quietly from the shadows, or charge in guns blazing.
While the previous game allowed you to upgrade your augmentations, Mankind Divided also features upgradeable weapons. Throughout the game, players will be able to improve and extend their arsenal by adding new features to their guns.
Another key feature is the augmentations that Jenson has embedded into his body. Used to great effect in Human Revolution, augmentations give him superhuman abilities and further expand the potential for players to approach different situations however they choose.
As you would expect considering Human Revolution was released over five years ago, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has received a significant graphical overhaul when compared to its predecessor.
Environments are more richly detailed, and the fantastically realised cyberpunk world looks more alive than ever before. The new weapon and augmentation effects are equally as impressive looking.
